The Challenge:
Global gifting and celebrations company, International Greeting’s mission is: ‘to create products that make us smile’ . They wanted to unify 15 disparate businesses, spanning 8 countries and 1,200 staff under one new name: Design Group, and to ensure there was global buy-in, both internally and with shareholders, they needed a creative strategy to align everyone
The Solution:
Kicked off by a series of stakeholder and brand ambassador interviews we created an internal campaign which involved traveling the globe and capturing personal stories, film, photo and written content from employees. In the process they each person designed and created a giant puzzle piece inspired by the theme “what makes you smile?”. We then brought together each piece and built a giant jigsaw puzzle of 944 individual pieces that physically manifested the “coming together” of the different offices. The results were all captured in a series of films as well as photo books which were distributed back to all the participants around the world.
The impact:
We smashed it! Not only did we see an unprecedented 85% staff engagement rate with the project, but the share price sky-rocketed after the campaign launched, since then their market cap grown 500% making them one of the fastest growing business listed on AIM. We also raised over £15,000 for charities around the world AND helped the client win a few awards (including the Transform Award for Best International Rebrand) in the process, a nice bit of icing on the cake!
Why It Mattr’d:
This was a truly collaborative project, tapping into real stories that meant something on both a personal and professional level to the people involved. We created mountains of amazing social content beyond the campaign (including 10,000 photos!). And to top it all off, you can find the puzzle pieces up when you visit the offices and commemorative coffee table books in all receptions around the world. A truly long term campaign :)
